THE TEAM:
Edge of Architecture, Coral Gables, Florida
Tesoro restaurant is located in the Marco Island Marriott Resort. The concept inspired by the Lanai is captured with the ongoing waves crashing into the lava found in the islands.
THE MUSE: Influenced by the sailing community, the Newport Marriott Hotel exudes a lively ambiance with playful nautical themes, balanced by a touch of sophistication and refinement. The space incorporates elements like ropes, sailcloth, salvaged wood, and water features seamlessly blended with impressive stones, a neutral color palette, and polished brass accents.
THE MAGIC: In contrast to the lively atmosphere of the shared spaces, the guestroom is intentionally crafted to be a tranquil and private haven. Inspired by the calmness of the sea, it aims to evoke a serene nautical ambiance. Instead of traditional artwork, a taut sail, softly illuminated from behind, spans the entirety of the teak deck headboard, creating a soothing visual that extends across the headboard wall. When all other lights are dimmed, leaving only the sail softly aglow, the room conjures a primal emotion, reminiscent of the first light breaking on a tranquil horizon.
THE MAVERICK MOVE: A feature seating area enveloped by a circular arrangement of floor-to-ceiling ropes, creates an intimate space around a bubbling water feature. Suspended from the ceiling are chairs with sail-stretched fabric, inviting guests to gently sway as if drifting on water, simulating the tranquil movement of a boat.
